Bonomo Montiel Signature wine
Line 01

Reserve Reds

The heart of the winery. Four labels from limited batches, each from a different Valle de Uco vineyard, with a long ageing that seeks structure without covering the fruit.

Malbec — Bonomo & Montiel

Malbec

97% Malbec / 3% Cabernet Franc
Vineyard
Altamira, Valle de Uco
Ageing
12 to 14 months / 20% new barrels
Cellaring
5 to 7 years
Appearance
Intense red-violet colour, with blue tints.
Nose
The fruit stands out, with notes of plum, fig and violet, and the oak accompanies with subtle chocolate.
Palate
A good entry on the palate; a wine that shows its character, persistent, with round, sweet tannins typical of the area. It leaves a pleasant sensation.

Winemaker's note

We look to bring out the black fruit and floral notes this varietal gives, and on the palate the power that comes from the soils of the area. It comes from two estates in Altamira with different soils, which is what sets them apart. They are made and kept separately so that, before bottling, we can make the perfect blend, always with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc. It rests in second and third use barrels for 14 to 16 months and then spends a further year in bottle before release.

Cabernet Franc — Bonomo & Montiel

Cabernet Franc

100% Cabernet Franc
Vineyard
Altamira, Valle de Uco
Ageing
12 to 14 months / 20% new barrels
Cellaring
6 to 7 years
Appearance
Deep red colour with black tones.
Nose
High aromatic intensity, where the varietal shows its full potential. Pepper, bell pepper, raspberry and tobacco.
Palate
Silky and elegant; the descriptors on the nose return on the palate. A persistent, balanced wine that always invites another glass.

Winemaker's note

We chose a vineyard in Altamira, San Carlos, at 1,200 m a.s.l., and selected rows that we work differently from the rest. We look for balance between canopy and crop load. The soil is alluvial, with a good slope, plenty of limestone rock, sand and some silt. Harvest is by hand and with shears so as not to break the fruit. Working with the fine lees in the first months of ageing matters: it gives greater complexity on the palate.

Merlot — Bonomo & Montiel

Merlot

100% Merlot
Vineyard
Gualtallary, Tupungato / Valle de Uco
Ageing
12 months in second and third use French oak barrels
Cellaring
6 to 7 years
Appearance
High colour intensity, with deep black and blue tones.
Nose
Very expressive: black fruit stands out, with subtle pyrazine notes —bell pepper— typical of the variety in cool climates.
Palate
Elegant, with good weight and a round finish.

Winemaker's note

Every vintage of this Merlot aims to reflect the unique identity of Gualtallary. Its vineyards, at 1,210 metres, give fruit of great freshness, concentration and natural balance, qualities we look to preserve at every stage. Vinification combines careful extraction with twelve months in second and third use French oak, favouring elegance over the intensity of the wood. After a period in bottle it reaches a harmony that heightens its complexity and confirms its ability to evolve over time.

Pinot Noir — Bonomo & Montiel

Pinot Noir

100% Pinot Noir
Vineyard
El Peral, Valle de Uco
Ageing
12 to 14 months in French oak / 20% first use, 80% second use
Cellaring
5 to 7 years
Appearance
Intense red-violet colour, with blue reflections.
Nose
The fruit stands out, with notes of plum, fig and violet, and the oak accompanies with subtle chocolate.
Palate
With a good entry on the palate, a wine that shows its character, persistent, with round, sweet tannins typical of the area.

Winemaker's note

The vineyard is in El Peral, Tupungato, on a hillside facing east and surrounded by trees. That position means the fruit gets direct sunlight until 3 or 4 in the afternoon, ripens more slowly and gains concentration of colour, aroma and tannin. It is a low trellis over 80 years old. Hand picked, with berry selection in the cellar. Fermentation temperature never goes above 25 °C.
